Andrew Ko, PhD
Professor · Founder · Strategist
I study how people behave, how data listens, and why personalization so often gets it wrong. My work sits at the intersection of behaviour, trust, and human-centred design.
Current work
- The Data Human A framework for measuring how brands treat the people behind the data.
- Siftbox A separate address for brand signups that forwards only the email worth opening.
- GradMark A faculty-rated credential showing employers who a graduate is, not just what they studied.
- Crowdsim A simulated public for practising media decisions. You bring the decision, and its world decides what happens and what people say about it.
- The Consumer Hypocrisy A book in progress on personalization, privacy, and the gap between them.
- DIG A student-led digital strategy consultancy at Centennial College, running real client engagements each term.
- Capgaze Scores every US and Toronto-listed company against what you said you want, and shows the regulation, trends and dividend record behind each score.
- Termline A whole term on one line: every deadline in every course, what is actually due this week, and a short plan each Sunday.
Past work
- Personalyze 2016 A behavioural intelligence platform serving enterprise clients globally. Raised around £1.65m, including a round led by OpenOcean.
- Moment.Us 2013 A consumer music platform that integrated behavioural and environmental signals to personalize listening. Selected into the Collider Accelerator Programme in London, which invested £150k and counted Unilever Ventures among its backers.
